BIOGRAPHY

I’m a former Local Government Arts Officer, civic theatre manager & publicity officer.  Moving with my Welsh-speaking husband to Llantrisant from East London in 1988, I became Founding Director of The Model House, guiding it from an empty shell to a functioning crafts centre that aimed to bring new life into Llantrisant.  To that end, I enjoyed working with councillors and officers, plus The Royal Mint.  I lived in the old town, getting to know it, and its characters, intimately.  My 4-year-old son attended the Welsh School. For several years I was Vice Chair and publicity officer for Llantrisant Festival.

I then co-ran my husband’s publishing business as Editorial & Maps Manager, then wrote two books. I’ve also been a website editor, a French translator, a teacher of English, a Citizen’s Advice worker, and have sat on numerous committees including a local Residents’ Association and a Women’s Business Network. For five years I chaired a management company for a Cardiff Bay development, representing owners’ rights against the developers.

I’m interested in and/or have skills in buildings & DIY, languages (fluent French & some Welsh, German & Italian) and politics.  I attend Patient participation group meetings at Talbot Green Surgery.

I live in Llantrisant old town, the ward that I represent. I thrive on advocating for peoples’ rights and am not easily deterred!
