Allotment gardening offers fresh air, home-grown produce, a healthy lifestyle and like-minded people. The Community Council has overall management responsibility for 4 allotment sites within the area. Each site is run on a day-to-day basis by a management committee elected by the plot-holders.
Brynteg Allotments
On Newbridge Road, beside the Dan Caerlan Estate. Brynteg is the largest site with 65 plots. Contact the Management Committee to be added to the waiting list for a plot: bryntegallotments@llantrisant-cc.gov.wales
Penycoedcae Road
Accessed from Ael y Bryn, Beddau. There are 48 plots. The committee are working hard to improve the site and in 2020 were successful in achieving lottery funding for a wooden chalet to enable socialisation with other plot-holders and a place for the committee to meet. Southgate Allotments
Located at the bottom of Summerfield Drive, this is the smallest site with only 16 plots. Contact the Secretary, John Gibson, to be added to the waiting list for a plot: 01443 268274.
Tynant Allotments
Accessed from an alleyway off Heol y Beddau near Commercial Street. Tynant have been successful in receiving Awards for All Funding to improve the pathways , install a toilet at the site and build a meeting room and storage area. There are 20 plots.
